It's hot out there. I mean really H-O-T. While a heat wave is sweeping the country, it's a bit cooler at my home {just a tiny bit}, but I'm not home right now. I'm in Texas, and it is HOT.
I must have been able to handle this heat years ago. After all, I spent 22 years in TX. But I'm telling you, I cannot handle it now. It is like an oven out there.
Simply walking outside gives me the sensation of getting too close to a flame. My lips burn, my eyes feel scorched and dry, sweat trickles down the small my back and the heat seems to dance across my face and arms like fire.
This extreme heat brought several of my posts to mind; posts concerning kids and cars, sunburns and pools. So, here are 5 Things You Know about Heat:
-
NEVER leave your kids in the car alone. It doesn't have to a hot day for a child to die very quickly when left in a car; so, think about what can happen in these high temps ;
-
NEVER leave your child unattended in a pool; accidents can happen quickly and quietly;
-
Be clear about what SPF means and what's in your sunscreen you are applying to you and your children;
-
The water spray bottle/fan combination work very well in very HOT situations; and
-
It really can be hot enough to fry an egg on the street...at least I think so, and I'm going to try it.
Enjoy the sunny days and don't get burned. Over and out...
Anna
