When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.
~Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty
I've never been known for my grace, athleticism or quick reflexes, but when I became a parent I was instantly skilled in lightning quick movements when it came to my children. With an infant, this involved strangers and small children who thoughtlessly reached out to touch my pure and fragile baby's hands or face; as they grew to be bobbling toddlers this meant grabbing over-confident, early walkers from falling into trouble.
With each new stage my Darling Boys enter, my mother-quick instincts progress, as well. I could have a conversation with another adult, hold a cup of coffee, and without looking lend a lightning fast hand to my tumbling child all in one breath.
A mother's heart, mind and spirit are never truly separated from her children, regardless of the age of either. It's a blessing and a curse, but I wouldn't want it any other way with my mom or my children.
It's Friday…. Go eat some chocolate. It's good for you, and you deserve it!

Nota Bene: I hold these truths to be self-evident, that all parents and kids are not created equally, but are wholly individual in personality and style. Regardless of these differences, the basic needs of love, patience and support remain constant. Here are the weekly affirmations, tips and reminders. Unless otherwise noted, these are entirely my opinion. Take them with a grain of salt, or not!
