The deadline to file an appeal with the Florida Supreme Court challenging the Appellate Court's Ruling striking down a Florida law that prohibits homosexual parents from adopting has passed. The Florida Attorney General opted not to appeal, thereby putting a stop to this 33 year old law.
The Appellate Court found it unconstitutional as it has no rational basis for not allowing gay parents to adopt children simply for the reason that the parent trying to adopt is gay. My congratulations to the Gill family. I'm sure they are ecstatic to have these uncertain proceedings behind them with their lives together, as a family, in front of them. A loving, nurturing family is the most important thing for a child.
