I think that if a kid doesn't want to take a nap, let it go. The truth is it's easy to blame bad behavior on being tired, but sooner or later your child (and you) have to learn how to behave well even when tired. Parents go to ridiculous lengths to get a nap and IMHO it's really not about the kid. Let's be honest. It's about the parent wanting a break. And, it's about not wanting to admit that your child might be misbehaving for some other reason - immaturity? insensitivity? that's just how it is... - than being tired.
